Wisconsin Auctioneers Voices Ring in the Rotunda!

Feb 21, 2018 | Day on the Hill

On February 21, 2018 several auctioneers joined at the Capitol in Madison, WI for the 2nd Annual Auctioneers Day on the Hill.   Stan Jones, Kendall Theil, Bryce Hansen, Jenny Markham-Gehl, Carol Wagenson, and the WAA Lobbyist, Shawn Pfaff,  spent the day meeting with area lawmakers regarding the auction industry and voicing concerns about non-regulated online auctions, sales tax, and other pressing issues that Auctioneers in Wisconsin face in today’s marketplace.

Face-to-face meetings took place with Senator Howard Marklein, Representative Ed Brooks, and staff from the offices of Senator Shilling, Senator Fitzgerald, Representative Kleefisch and Representative Jagler.  A special thank you was extended to Representative Ed Brooks and staff (Kathryn & John) for helping the Wisconsin Auctioneers with the facilitation of the day’s events.

Approximately 50 lawmakers, staff and visitors at the Capitol joined the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association for a short program in the rotunda which ended with a great demonstration of bid calling in the round.  Lots of bidding, lots of smiles, and lots of enthusiasm!

The day concluded with one of WAA’s Past Presidents, Bryce Hansen being appointed by the Governor to serve on the State of Wisconsin’s Auctioneer Board.  Bryce will join WAA members, Jerry Thiel and Randy Stockwell who currently serve on the Auctioneer Board.   Congratulations Bryce!
