Rich Ranft has been inducted into the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association Hall of Fame in 2018. Rich’s grandparents owned a farm and he spent a lot of time growing up on the farm and working in the family auction business.

In 1980 Rich bought the family auction business. After renting several locations, he and his wife, Pat, bought a building that was a former grocery store and moved the weekly auction consignment to its new location.

There wasn’t a new idea or new technology that Rich did not try. He was one of the first auctioneers in the state to successfully conduct a ballroom real estate auction, without the ballroom. He used the auction house as the ballroom.

Rich joined the Wisconsin Auctioneers Association and National Auctioneers Association around 1984 and became a CAI graduate as well as achieved the designations of GPPA, AARE and AMM. Rich since has served two terms on the WAA Board of Directors and has served on various NAA committees. He has actively volunteered time with many community organizations as well and has been referred to as “the constant voice of unselfish community service”.

Rich attended his first NAA conference in Grand Rapids, MI in 1996 and has not missed one since. He credits the WAA and NAA seminars and convention programs with much of the reason for the growth and success of his business. He is always looking for new ways to do old things. His dedication to this industry certainly has shown over his years of experience and the WAA is excited to include Rich Ranft in the Hall of Fame.
