Mader Auctions

I started auctioneering while in high school in Kaukauna, WI. My father owned 3 liquidation retail outlets and we ran a weekly retail auction along with monthly wholesale auctions consisting of liquidation merchandise and closeouts. After many years of this, we found ourselves working with the Amish communities throughout the state, selling organic and whole food animal and human nutrition. One of the Amish farmers in Amherst, WI decided he wanted to start the first quilt auction in the state to raise money for their schools. After 2 years, he asked my father and me to auctioneer for him. This turned into helping other communities with their Amish School Sales. We bought the Amherst Auction and brought in handmade quilts from 20 – 30 states around the country and sold them. One of our highlights was having a quilt auction at the Milwaukee Art Museum while they had quilts on display.

I graduated from World Wide College of Auctioneering in 1985 under the direction of Gordon E. Taylor. My father, Robert J. Mader, graduated from the same college in 1978. After my father passed away in 2006, I kept the auctioneering profession alive in our family by continuing the Amherst Auction and taking on several other auctions throughout Wisconsin and Iowa.

Getting to work with other auctioneers at the Amish School Sales or Benefit auctions are what I truly enjoy.
