Local auctioneer Carol Miller, of Oconomowoc, was recently inducted into the Wisconsin Auctioneer’s Association’s (WAA) Hall of Fame.

As the 2016 recipient, Miller joins a small group of Wisconsin auctioneers who hold this highly esteemed honor in the auction industry. The ceremony took place at the annual WAA Conference & Show that was held at the Best Western Conference Center in Stevens Point, Jan. 24-26.

The event included auctioneers from across Wisconsin, Illinois, Minnesota and Texas, seeking continuing education credits to fulfill their license requirements and upgrade their professionalism.

In addition to workshops on ethics and professional conduct, marketing, firearms and sales tax issues, auctioneers were able to attend individual coaching lessons by International Auctioneer Champion Tammy Tisland.

The Hall of Fame honors auctioneers who have established high ethical standards, have a willingness to share with others in the industry, practice honesty and integrity in their business, and contribute to their communities.

Carol and her husband Todd own and operate Baileys Honor Auction LLC and perform live and online auctions, as well as many benefit events. She has pursued her auction education by attending the World Wide College of Auctioneering in Mason City, IA, and is also a candidate of the Certified Auctioneer’s Institute at Indiana University where she will be completing her third and final year in 2017.

Carol is a member of the Wisconsin and National Auctioneers Associations, where she has served in several leadership positions including the WAA President in 2013.

Miller earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Wisconsin in LaCrosse, was the winner of the Wisconsin State Championship Auctioneer Contest held at the Wisconsin State Fair in 2013, is a renowned antique expert since 1989, and a 2013 ‘top 7 finalist’ in the woman’s division of the International Auctioneer’s Championship Contest.

In addition to serving as director and multiple officer positions within the Wisconsin Auctioneer’s Association, she has also chaired several committees and is an instructor for the State of Wisconsin for Continuing Education classes.

Miller has also appeared on the TV program called “If Walls Could Talk,” an award winning HGTV show that finds historic and interesting items within renovated homes and puts a price on them. Todd and Carol are the parents of two daughters, Lynzie (Peter) and Allison (Jon) and a new granddaughter, Maisy.

Bailey’s Honor Auction LLC was named after Emma Bailey, the first female auctioneer, and has been in business for more than 22 years.
