From the WAA President

Mar 23, 2023 | WAA Member News

Fellow Members,

We had our first board meeting with new members earlier this month. Lots discussed and I want to make sure to share some upcoming events with you:

  • March 27-31 – CAI Training held in Bloomington, IN. I will be attending along with Bob Hagemann, Tim Ault and Lake Boehm for the first year. Robert Petts will be attending for his third year. Kathy Packard will also be attending as one of the NAA Educational Trustees.
  • April 20, 2023 – Rescheduled date for Day on the Hill. Join us to advocate on behalf of WAA and its issues in the State Capitol. Meet with your local lawmakers and educate them on WAA issues. Be part of the “Selling in the Round” Auction in the Capitol Rotunda. More information can be found HERE.
  • April 23-24, 2023 – NAA Day on the Hill. We will have Robert Petts attending to represent the WAA.
  • April 25, 2023 – WAA Virtual Membership Meeting will be held via Microsoft Teams. This will be an open forum for discussion with the main focus being a Q&A with a representative from ATF. Send your e-mail address to info@wisconsinauctioneers.org to receive an invite to this meeting.
  • May 1-6, 2023 – National Auctioneers Week. I encourage everyone to use this week to promote the WAA. Use your social media platforms to share the benefits and importance of the WAA. I will be changing my profile images to the WAA Logo in honor of the week. If you are looking for other ideas on how you can promote the WAA during this time, please let me know.
  • June 9 &10, 2023 – The Dane County Breakfast (and Auction) on the Farm will be held at my family farm on the 10th of June and I would LOVE to have everyone attend. We plan to have a WAA meeting at the farm on June 9th. You can spend the rest of the day helping with set-up or touring the neighboring town New Glarus. They have their annual Polkafest to attend. Or maybe a tour of the New Glarus Brewery.

Breakfast is held on the farm from 7:00-11:30 on the 10th. There are opportunities to sign-up as a volunteer to help serve breakfast. OR just come with your families to enjoy the festivities and to help promote the WAA. Small auctions will be held throughout the day on the mainstage in between music and presenters. We will conclude the day with a full auction to start at about 11:00.

  • January 29-31, 2024 – WAA 2024 Annual Convention. This will be held at The Lodge in Mauston. Book your rooms now as there are a limited number available. Look forward to a Theme Reveal on June 9th!

Our next board meeting will be May 2nd @ 8:30AM. As always, if you have something that comes up before one of our next meetings, please let me know.
