A Time to Celebrate

The Year 2025 is a Huge one for WAA!! Not only is WAA 75 years old but we have so many other milestones to celebrate as well!

140 years ago in 1885 – An Act to amend Chapter 68 of the revised statutes of 1878 entitled “Of Auctions and Auctioneers. The people of the state of Wisconsin represented in senate and assembly, do enact as follows: Section 1585 of Chapter 68, of the revised statutes of the State of Wisconsin, entitled “Of Auctions and Auctioneers is hereby amended.

115 years ago in 1910 – The first Wisconsin Auctioneers Association was formed. They lasted only a few years and disbanded during the depression. They offered car rides as entertainment for their first convention.

75 years ago in 1950 – The current Wisconsin Auctioneers Association was established.

30 years ago in 1995 – The Auctioneer license Law went into effect for the State of Wisconsin.

20 years ago in 2005 – The first Senior Auctioneer contest was held.

15 years ago in 2010 – Carol Miller was the first woman in Wisconsin to win the title of State Champion Auctioneer.
