WAA Conference a Huge Success

Celebrating its 60th anniversary as a trade association for Auctioneers, the WAA conference Jan. 24-26 was a huge success.  Over 200 registrants with 17 exhibitors participated in a wide selection of seminars, workshops and panel discussions on a variety of timely topics.  The conference opened Sunday evening with music by Maggie Mae who will be a featured entertainer in Branson, Mo, during the 2010 Christmas season.

The annual meeting of the membership saw Randy Gill of Shullsburg succeed to the office of president.  Past President Randy Stockwell of Dorchester will continue on the board for one more year.  Other officers elected are President-Elect Bob Hagemann of Burlington, Vice President Carol Miller of Oconomowoc, Treasurer Rod Freymiller of Fennimore.  New elected directors were Damien Massart of Green Bay and Kathy Packard of Antigo.  They join continuing 2011 directors Shirley Baumann of Madison and Wayne Yoder of Wautoma; and 2012 directors Jamie Back of Independence and Tim Miller of Merton.

Bob Paffel of Cumberland was inducted into the Auctioneer Hall of Fame and Alice Brandau of Brandau-Hill Auctions of Wilton was inducted into the First Annual Auxiliary Hall of Fame.  Rodney Freymiller, PRI, was selected Ringman of the Year and will advance to the National Competition in Branson, Mo.  Joe Bunczak of Rosholt was named Senior Bidcaller of the year, Joe Mellem from Monticello was selected Novice of the Year.  Hansen & Young Auctioneers of Prairie Farm received the Best of Show in the annual advertising contest.

Auctioneers in attendance acquired six credits towards their auction license renewal requirement of 12 per biennium.
